H. Ryan Bicknell, Jr., MD
Louisiana native Dr. Ryan Bicknell is a member of a family of distinguished surgeons. He completed his undergraduate education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and then earned a Master of Science degree and Doctorate of Philosophy at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport before earning a his medical degree from the same institution. Upon graduation he served residencies in orthopaedic surgery at LSU School of Medicine Shreveport-affiliated hospitals and at Princess Margaret Rose Orthopaedic Hospital in Edinburgh, Scotland.
During his career Dr. Bicknell has served as assistant chief of staff at Shriners Hospital for Children, Shreveport, and as chief of surgery for Willis-Knighton Health System. He has been an associate clinical professor of orthopaedic surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport and a staff orthopaedic surgeon at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport. He currently serves as chief of staff for Willis-Knighton Health System and is the senior partner at The Orthopaedic Clinic in Shreveport.
During his medical career Dr. Bicknell has coauthored numerous academic articles, sharing his expertise in orthopaedics.
Since 1992 Dr. Bicknell has been sponsoring physician for the Jambalaya Jubilee, a retreat for children with rheumatic diseases and their families, and he also serves on the board of the presenting organization, Children and Arthritis. In 2008 he was given an award by the Krewe of Asclepius for his service.
